UKULELE NOIR

Born in Nebraska. Raised in Iowa. Currently resides in Brooklyn. I want to share this great quote: "I'm not living the blues; I'm just singing for the women who think they can't speak out. Can't a man alive mistreat me, 'cause I know who I am." -Alberta Hunter... Check out Alberta's music at myspace.com/AlbertaHunter.

Okay, the name is intriguing. It's cool, mysterious. I mean life is nothing without a hint of scandal, right? But to know the woman behind the mysterious name is really the fascinating part. In fact, she's a trip. Jamie began sewing her scandalous ways in Philadelphia, where a creative spark seized her soul & psyche. It turned her onto art, music, singing, & a move to the Big Apple's upper west side. To know Jamie is to acknowledge a few facts. Her stunning hair & glamorous air are real...or are they? (Sure they are!) Fashion & Jamie walk hand in hand. She's an artist & freelance designer who's impressed the likes of Sears & Disney with her work, so she's allowed. She's also allowed to be as cool as she damn wants! Just ask a couple of her devoted & talented personal friends, Broadway stars Betty Buckley & Mandy Patinkin! Yes, they dig her & her voice! Which brings us to the heart of the matter. Her voice. The time has come for the world to take her seriously & they are! She's sung with prominent jazz outfits like Jasafar serving up some original urban rock & blues, a band called Spellbound where she truly was, & get this, a heavy metal band by the name of Evil-kitty. No joke. Jamie Scandal is the new voice-to-be-reckoned with. So when you see her live on stage one of these nights, just remember, you're in the true presence of a scandal happening right before your eyes!!!

Sweet Soubrette brings a fresh new voice to the singer/songwriter scene with a femme-fatale-and-ukulele act that walks the narrow line between ironic and sincere. Tongue-in-cheek lyrics and melodrama notwithstanding, these torch songs just might be in earnest.
