Roots and Grooves is a relatively new ensemble created by the bassist, composer, arranger and bandleader, Colin Dean. Colin is a recent graduate of the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and a New York Foundation of the Arts grant recipient. The ensemble features many talented young musicians, many of whom are graduates of the most prestigious music schools in New York: Beck Burger on keys, Tomo Kanno on drums, John Cave on electric guitar, Samir Zarif on soprano sax, Jeremey Joffee on alto sax, Jamaal Sawyer on tenor sax, and Saunders Sermon on trombone.
