AN ASSEMBLY OF QUOTABLE GENTS

This May, ReddMask Theater Company launches An Assembly of Quotable Gents, a festival of three original one-act plays that celebrate New York City’s infamous saloon life. From Jackson Pollock getting sloshed with the art world at Cedar Tavern to the notorious McGurk’s Suicide Hall, Assembly dramatizes legendary tales from the city’s underbelly and appropriately returns them to their original setting – the city bar. For three consecutive weeks, the plays will run one day per week in venues throughout the city. Live music acts representing the play’s time period precede each performance.
Playing at Mo Pitkin's is "The Folly Ball", by Jeff Lewonczyk, also Associate Director of the Brick Theater, about the well-known speakeasy, Chumley's, during the 1930s. Recently in the news for a collapsed wall, Chumley's was once a favorite spot for NYC's literati.
Festival runs May 6th-22nd
