PEARL HANDLED PISTOL
TOM WALBANK & THE AMBASSADORS
Two bands from the high and dry town of Tucson, AZ

First up are the husband and wife duo Pearl Handled Pistol. New York native Emilie Marchand has been compared to the likes of Margo Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies, but the sultry bedroom command of Julie London or caberet style of Peggy Lee are just as apt. Marchand's dark, impassioned voice conveys stories laced with themes of memory, mourning and the possibility of hope. Marchand's husband Mike Bagesse's sensuous, hypnotic guitar mirrors and plays off of Marchand's vocals. Pearl Handled Pistol create a gentle slowcore sound filled with longing and attention to sonic texture.

Tom was born & raised in England, first discovering the blues at fifteen through the primitive stomp of John Lee Hooker. The harmonica was his first instrument; he learned by listening to greats like Sonny Terry & James Cotton. He later moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he spent seven years playing night after night in the city's bars & clubs. In 1997, Tom moved to San Francisco for five years before moving to the artist friendly community of Tucson. Tom is respected not only by blues lovers but also rockabilly, indie, & punk audiences for his tireless gigging, amazing high energy live show, & devout dedication to the blues. He is joined by fellow Ambassador Michael Bagesse & together they create a poly rhythmic juke joint sound. Their raw harmonica, rhythm, & slide playing channel a time when Hooker, Elmore James, & Muddy Waters walked the earth like giants. Tom is touring in support of his latest release Mudhook Vol 2 put out by Rock n' Roll Purgatory, from San Antonio.
