NYC SMOKE
THE KIN

'(For the Posers) is distinguished by its combination of straight ahead rock Instrumentation & smarter than usual lyrics. Statland proves to be an astute observer of society & human nature.' -Billboard Magazine
'The tracks on For the Posers carry with it a realness that is generally washed clean of your average big label/commercial music factory product, you hear an artist torturing & twisting himself like a sponge with each golden drop of inspiration qualitively incomparable to anything out at the moment" -Detroit Voxpop
The Village Voice calls NYCSmoke 'a cross between Springsteen & The Strokes,' but the band has a sound all its own. NYCSmoke has recently finished their new CD Hearts and Stones, mixed by Don Fleming (Sonic Youth, Pete Yorn). NYCSmoke is fronted by Howie Statland (formerly Thin Lizard Dawn) who has also created his own multimedia films, collaborated with Philip Glass, & was most recently the musical director & composer of Sarah Michelson's Daylight at PS 122 in New York City.
NYCSmoke will perform songs from their new album, Hearts and Stones as well as songs from their critically acclaimed debut, For the Posers.

The Kin are tearing it up throughout the Northeast, turning heads and making fans with soulful live performances. Becoming one of the NYC region's hottest live acts, The Kin has grown an underground fan base of their own through intimate, innovative grassroots performances. Co-fronted by Astralian brothers Isaac and Thorry Koren, The Kin?s sound reminds listeners of the atmospheric music of U2's Joshua Tree, with the dark pop sensibility of Duran Duran and the blue-eyed soul of Hall and Oates. The band's sound is a blend of bright and dark melodies, catchy hooks, and solid musicianship, garnering Australian comparisons to the Finn Brothers and Kick era INXS
