NYC GIGS PRESENTS

Steve Hefter and Friends and Friends of Friends homonymously describes both those who fraternize with Mr. Hefter (and of course those who subsequently hobnob with these 'friends') as well as a six piece musical ensemble (and their comrades of course!) that play music generally reflecting life as part of one or both aforementioned contingents. Steve Hefter and his friends (AND THEIR FRIENDS) want nothing more than to be YOUR FRIEND, perhaps with benefits, as long as there are no strings attached.

-Ayer’s effort has it all-tight arrangements, excellent musicality and imaginative lyrics. If you’re looking for great music, this is the Place indeed.' -Performing Songwriter
'This album has that controlled frantic pace, that almost feels like an album exploding from someone’s soul... A wonderful album, with some sparks of sheer creative bliss.'
-Indie Launchpad
'He's talented... the last thing he needs is a (John) Mayer comparison; this guy is beyond Mayer. He's Bright Eyes mixed with James Taylor in the form of James Dean.'
-URB
'This is the Plac' shows a sophisticated level of maturity for a young singer/songwriter... he’s got everything working in his favor. Imaginative choruses and pop hooks that eschew pure infectious melodies. Grab on and hold tight.' -smother.net
'Part street poet, part armchair philosopher, indie singer/songwriter Chris Ayer will leave you smiling whether you feel like smiling or not. You gotta love this guy... This Is The Place is a delightful discovery.' -BuddyHollywood.com

How many female rock musicians do you know who have a masters degree in Opera and have been through Army basic training? Based out of Brooklyn, NY, Danan Healy's combination of introspective ballads and hard driving tunes full of piss and vinegar has entertained audiences all over the East Coast. Her debut album "The Other Side" is a culmination of a classical music background, a love of rock, and her experience with the Baltimore ska band 23 Skadoo.

Captain Coconut packs a powerful funky punch. They breath that tight funk music that makes you want to move. The constantly grooving rhythm section of Dan Knobler (guitar), Zack Rosen (electric fretless bass), Matt Porter (keys) and Greg Evans (drums) is always on. The potent sax section of Matt Chiasson (tenor/alto) and Danny Rivera (baritone) hits hard. Captain Coconut is contagiously funky. Their upbeat presence that invites the crowd to become part of the music. In short, they funk hard.
