While on holiday as a new born in New York City, Jesse's family was wiped out by a tragic deep fryer accident at Sam's Falafel, and during the chaos that ensued, was accidentally abandoned in a giant pita pocket. Luckily, a stray pack of gay Broadway understudies found him and raised him as their own on the mean streets of the West Village. He became a theater rat, literally, living off of the left over cheese always in abundance on Broadway. He learned every note and every word of every Lloyd Webber and Fosse production, finally deciding that Broadway musicals are absolute fucking trash. So he headed East, where he discovered nothing. Then, one day while selling trucker hats outside the Mars Bar on 1st and 1st, he met Craig and O.T.I.S. was born.

Dawn's music comes from the mouth, mind, & hands of New York-based singer-songwriter Dawn Landes. Reminiscent of the raw traditionalism of Woody Guthrie & the experimental alt-folk lyricism of artists like Joanna Newsome, the Louisville native plays a variety of instruments (8-dollar guitars! pink accordions! glockenspiels! optigons!). Whether she's performing by herself or with accomplices (members of the
bands Hem & The Earlies), her live show brings moving silence to the crowd & has caught the attention of a number of popular touring artists who've taken her on the road. In addition to her gig performing with Rounder recording artists Hem (backing vocals & glockenspiel), Dawn has supported the likes of Jose Gonzalez, Suzanne Vega, Le Tigre, Rainer Maria, Andrew Bird, Feist, M83, Jane Siberry, & Shannon Wright.
Dawn's self-recorded & self-produced album Dawn's Music is available in Europe through French label Ocean-Music, and can be purchased in America if you go to a show (well, its also available on CD Baby). British label Boy Scout Recordings will be releasing a mini-album called 2-3-4 in Europe this summer, & Dawn recently finished her second full-length album Fireproof, which is available exclusively in the US through Other Music (more info on Fireproof coming very soon). Dawn is touring Europe & the US throughout the summer of 2006, so be sure to check back for tour dates.
Oh, we almost forgot! Dawn's day job is as a recording engineer, working with such renowned artists as Hem, Philip Glass, Joseph Arthur, & Ryan Adams.

ok i just figured out how to write something about myself on the bio page . I cant really "big up " myself , it feels kind of weird for me to do that , maybe thats one reason im still broke but ive done plenty of cool things i mcan tell you ! Like i once went up to this guy who i thought was Sam Philips (the Elvis guy) and introduced myself and said " how do you do mr Philips , its amazing to meet you " and he was polite and nodded and said a few things i couldnt quite hear and then 20 minutes later some one said "weve got a very special guest to play for us please welcome to the stage Delaneyfrom Bonnie and Delaney' (i cant remember his damn name) and this guy i thought was Sam Philips got up and started to sing!! So thats my bio , not bad eh? im gonna try and get some cds for sale on my site soon so if you like any of the songs and you want anymore let me know and ill figure it out.
