LOLA JOHNSON

An ASCAP artist, Lola Johnson has been developing her personalized musical storytelling through a range of influences including Billy Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Buckley and Michael Franks. Sweet off stage and sweeter in banter, Lola is sweetest creating a shared experience between herself and the audience. No place has ever been able to hold Lola Johnson for long. Born in NYC, she spent her early years in transience, moving through different cities and towns. Lola made her way through Boston, going from open mic to open mic, becoming a regular on tuesday nights at "The Burren" in Somerville. Next she wandered south to Baltimore, playing on street corners and perfecting her personal style as a songwriter. She reemerged in NYC 6 months later and started playing at bars like The C-Note, Mickey's Blue Room, LavaGina, and The Sidewalk Cafe. With a full band : Adam (congas), Levant (bass), Gabriel (lead guitar) and Chris (drums).
