Textured by a fiery violin & multi-layered guitar, the band is led by Laura's powerhouse vocals. She sings with Ani Difranco's tell-it-like-it-is defiance, Alanis Morissette's sheer, clear power, & the sultriness of Norah Jones. The result is an audio-shock of emotional truth. Village Voice recently praised Laura for her 'thick-skinned song-poems in jazzoid rhythms.' Over the past 3 years, the Laura Thomas Band has taken the stage across the country, from San Francisco to New York, packing such prestigious venues as the Knitting Factory, Mercury Lounge, & Joe's Pub. The Band has also captivated students at Dartmouth University, Columbia University, & Middlebury College, among many others. In 2002, Laura co-produced her first album, On My Sleeve, followed in 2004 by Slow. In September 2005, the Laura Thomas Band released its first full-band album, Step to the Wire, featuring Blind Trinity, a political allegory about the Bush administration's foreign policy. Whether singing acoustically with just her guitar & her microphone, or with the entire LTB, Laura's biting, crafty lyrics, massive voice, & passionate stage presence make for an emotionally charged show.
