In the hot summer of 2005, four talented musicians met in a run down studio in Hoboken & began to play a blend of rock, funk, & reggae sounding as diverse & original as the members themselves. JakTripa can play for hours mixing a set with their trade mark originals & covers that they jak to their own groove. The rhythm section is driven by drummer Evaldo Evil Soares, formerly of the rap/metal group Phonenzix. Bassman Duarte Sid Scharchetti, also a former member of Phonenzix, lays down the bass lines. Guitarist Kieran Sullivan serves as both the melodic island breeze & the Hendrix fire of JakTripa. On the mic, is Alex Jones with his raw, natural, & soulful voice. The horn section, consisting of David Hollander on tenor sax & Nick da Stick Aflito on trumpet, give Jak the roots & melodies of island ska, & the funk and the drive of Fela & James Brown.
