HI FIVE
WYNN WALENT
CHEYENNE

Hi Five hit the New Orleans/Baton Rouge music scene in the fall of 2004 & have been turning heads ever since. They self recorded & released their first full length album in early 2007 & have been extremely active in their local scene. The upbeat rhythms & funky guitar parts that texture their music make for a melodic & enjoyable listening experience, & their casual stage presence dresses them as part of the crowd. Being a band comprised entirely of New Orleans natives, Hi Five is a group of friendly & extremely laid back members. They make a consistent effort to avoid trends & fads, & continue to stay true to their melodic & rhythmic nature. It has been said, 'It is hard to leave a Hi Five show unhappy.'

After releasing their debut LP I Am Haunted, I Am Alive in 2005, Cheyenne quickly began gathering attention from their home base in Norman, Oklahoma. The album featured the band's 'strong songwriting & intricate, layered & beautiful instrumentation.' The musical collective supported the album with regional touring & festival appearances. But the following year brought big changes to the band: a relocation to Brooklyn, a solidified lineup, & naturally, a new group of songs. Set for release in June 2007 on Oklahoma based label Clerestory AV, The Land Rush EP will be the first recording to benefit from Cheyenne's change of scenery. While the name conjures their home state's heritage, the group is also looking to stake their own claim with songs that pick up where Haunted left off. The result is a sound that reflects an unavoidable change in current times. The steady rock & roll groove of This Is The Fashion & the stomping drums of The Army Marching Past give way to a sweet yet sinister ballad in Write It Down In Red. Classic steel guitar & heavy down home harmonies drive home I'll Be Gone, then a brief focus inward on As Long As I Can settles in before the conclusion becomes eerily clear on the power pop heavy Horsepower. And this time it's the work of a genuine, true-blue working band. Founding member & singer/songwriter Beau Jennings is joined by Heath Fisher on drums, Ben King on bass, Josh Harper on guitar, Rob Stephenson on pedal steel, & songwriter and Starlight Mints pianist Ryan Lindsey. A few friends drop by this time as well to lend their talents, with backup vocals from NYC anti-folk singer Jaymay, drums from James McAlister of Ester Drang & Sufjan Stevens' backing band, & guitar work from Josh Jones of the Evangelicals. Rush is the predecessor to Cheyenne's second full length album, which is scheduled to be released before the end of 2007.
