GRETA GERTLER
PETE GALUB

Greta grew up near the beach in Sydney, Australia & currently lives near several construction sites in Brooklyn. Her debut album The Baby that Brought Bad Weather (2003) brought her into the light as 'a hot commodity on the New York music scene' -WNYC, Soundcheck, with a 'spacious voice & a welcome weakness of lushly orchestrated 70s-style pop' -The New Yorker-. The album has been described as 'an impeccably orchestrated album of buoyant '70s-style pop' -Time Out NY, and 'one of those hoped for revelations that all too infrequently emerge from the never-ending pile of new releases' -Vin Scelsa, WFUV & 'an album of timeless songcraft in the classic pop tradition but with a magic that transcends the genre' -Irwin Chusid, WFMU. Her follow-up Nervous Breakthroughs (2004) cemented her reputation as an intriguing & ultra-talented musician on the rise, possessing a 'sweetly lyrical voice, an arrestingly quirky sensibility, & a chamber-pop band that fits no pigeonholes. Some hear Rufus Wainwright, others Aimee Mann. All I hear is Greta Gertler - and I like what I hear.' -Terry Teachout, Wall Street Journal.
