Twisting
music & narrative together, the insect-worshipping NYC rock band Dagmar
is 'up for just about anything, as long as it has more than four legs.'
'The best thing since... forever,' according to one fan who has seen the
band in one of its rare live performances. 'We’re constantly going
out looking for great new bands in New York. Halfway through Dagmar’s
first song, we knew we were about to get our heads blown.'
Emerging out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn by way of New Zealand, Ukraine, Bulgaria,
Dallas, Texas, & Pittsburgh, Dagmar picks up where everyone else either
left off or never got to in a style of music that others mostly compare
only to itself.
'What anchors the band is the singers’ voices: his is weary &
experienced, hers is hauntingly beautiful, & they play back &
forth over a soundtrack that is equal parts rock fury & jazzy resignation.
Their energy, even as they sing about wanting to stay in bed all day,
is contagious.' -Richichi Reviews
The band will perform songs from its first CD, Door No. 1, which
will be released this spring, & some bonus tracks from its second
CD, Door No. 2, which doesn’t exist yet.
Dagmar features Jim Bauer on guitar & vocals, Meghan McGeary on vocals,
Vessko Gellev on electric violin, Mat Fieldes on bass, David Rozenblatt
on drums, & Pablo Rieppi on percussion.
