Due to studying Literature and Writing in the Hudson valley, Ben’s music tends to pursue a literary vein- he aims to write a story, a narrative, and to sing it as poetically as possible. This often results in his tendency to invent words and grammar and to use creative pronunciation. His music is constructed around the guitar, piano and mountain dulcimer, and is reminiscent of the sixties folk circuit of Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison, as well as current folk musicians such as Anais Mitchell and Devon Sproule, with whom he had the pleasure to perform. This past summer he partook in the New York Songwriters Showcase, and has played venues such as the notable Bitter End and Cb’s Gallery.
