ANNA NYAKANA

My name is Anna Nyakana I was born in Berlin, Germany October 13, 1986. My family, with our roots in Moldova (Russia), left as refugees to Germany. However, we returned to Russia shortly after I was born and I spent my childhood years there. I am half Moldavian and half Ugandan (African). When I came to the States all I ever dreamed of was then possible in my eyes if I worked hard for it. My family settled in "Lockcity" CT, a growing city close enough to N.Y.C., whose huge musical influence flooded us. I plan to change the world with my music, like Gandhi said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." Through non-profit organizations like Save Darfur, ONE, Genocide Intervention Network and Oxfam, I am beginning to make a difference in the world. What one man can do is nothing compared to a group of people with a purpose and a reason. Music is uplifting. Music is promising. Music is inspirational. Music has always been and will always be my life. Now it’s my time to tell my story, are you ready?
