AMY SPEACE
CD Release Show!

“The talented Ms. Speace is lately taking her Americana away from twangy contemplation toward tangy confrontation. She’s well worth checking out.' -The Village Voice

Rock. Country. Folk. Americana. 2006 Kerrville New Folk Finalist Amy Speace & The Tearjerks blend it like Jersey City sludge. Like a more urban Emmylou with a pissy streak, Amy added her band of boys and recorded her newest offering "Songs For Bright Street" (Wildflower Records) in a Hoboken recording studio housed behind an old homing pigeon club. This is an album that doesn't care what genre bin it lands into. The lyrics mix the blunt and the poetic and lay on a hooky melodic bed with just enough crunch to keep it away from the usual sensitive “singer-songwriter” territory. Produced by Tearjerks' lead guitar player James Mastro (The Bongos, Health & Happiness Show, Ian Hunter), “Bright Street” features guest appearances by The Jayhawks’ Gary Louris, Cliff Eberhardt and E-Street Band violinist Soozie Tyrell. Amy has shared the stage with Alejandro Escovedo, Steve Forbert, Ricky Skaggs, Judy Collins, Rosie Flores among others.
