AMY SPEACE
ATOOSA

Equal parts poetry and sass, Amy Speace emerged from NYC's downtown acoustic scene to land a record deal with Judy Collins' Wildflower Records. Songs For Bright Street (April 2006) features her longtime band
The Tearjerks with guests Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Cliff Eberhart, and
E-Street Band's Soozie Tyrell.

'The talented Ms. Speace is lately taking her Americana away from twangy contemplation toward tangy confrontation. Paste Magazine has discovered her, and you should too.' -Village Voice

Nominated for Best Female Singer-Songwriter Album of 2002 in the Just Plain Folks Independent Music Awards, Atoosa's songs explore love & hope, devastation & desire, in her unflinchingly honest search for truth. Her intensely personal lyrics, captivating vocals, & magnetic stage presence have been transcending musical boundaries while garnering audience attention & critical acclaim. Atoosa is constantly exploring different forms, & she is inspired by literature & classical mythology, & themes of literature & art often weave their way throughout her songs. Her success & critical acclaim led to increased touring, & Atoosa has since appeared in San Francisco & Berkeley, CA; Nashville, TN; Buffalo, NY; Edinboro, Pittsburgh, & Philadelphia, PA, & playing such festivals as the NYC Summer Anti-Folk Festivals 2000 & 2001, NYC Underground Music & Poetry Festival 2001, Sono Arts Festival 2002 in Connecticut, & recently, the Nashville New Music Conference 2003, where she was one of only 19 artists included on its compilation CD. Atoosa excitedly looks forward to continued local gigs, touring & media appearances, & especially, 'learning more about this world we inhabit,' & continuing to uplift & inspire audiences by "having the freedom to be who you really are." Because to Atoosa, that is what her music is all about.
